Filling Space—50,000 Pearls

50,000 pearls, 11 workers filling up an 8,000 sqm workshop in less than half a minute.

I chose the large workshop of Systence Electronics as the site to enact this work. I invited 11 workers to stand in the workshop during the filming; 50, 000 pearls were dropped off of the crane, they fall in the space in front of the workers bouncing up and down, introducing a brisk and splendid rhythm to the typically cold factory environment. The pearls continue bouncing until inertia sets in and they become stationary.
